What To Expect

The Initial Visit

In acupuncture and Chinese medicine, care is tailored to the individual, not just the symptoms. Everyone presents with a unique pattern of health concerns, and the initial visit allows us to gather the information needed to develop a thoughtful, personalized treatment plan.

After booking your first appointment, you’ll receive an email with a link to complete a detailed health history and intake form, along with informed consent and privacy notices. Completing these forms ahead of time helps your visit flow smoothly. If needed, you may also complete them in the office by arriving 15–20 minutes early.

Your visit begins in a private consultation room, where we’ll review your health history and discuss your current concerns. The assessment typically includes conversation, pulse and tongue observation, and, when helpful, gentle palpation along specific channels or points. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have.

Following the consultation, you’ll move into the community treatment room.

The Community Treatment Room

The community treatment room is a shared, spacious, and calming environment designed to support rest and relaxation. When you enter, you may choose from any available recliner or table.

Before settling in, we ask that you:

  • Silence or turn off your phone

  • Remove shoes and socks

  • Roll up pant legs or sleeves as needed

  • Remove watches or items that interfere with pulse assessment

  • Place personal belongings beneath your chair or table

Once you’re comfortable, the practitioner will begin your treatment. Treatments typically last 50–60 minutes. Many people fall into a deep, restful sleep; if you have a firm end time, please let us know in advance.

When your treatment is complete, you may check out at reception, purchase additional visits, or schedule your next appointment before continuing with your day.

Subsequent Visits

At follow-up visits, fewer and more targeted questions are needed as we assess progress and adjust treatment as necessary. For these visits, you may proceed directly to the treatment room upon arrival.

Scheduling

Appointments can be scheduled online at any time using our convenient online booking system, or by phone during clinic hours. Appointment reminders are sent automatically by email or text once your visit is scheduled.
